Failing to stop for a police officer. Distinguishes between a person's willful and wanton failure to honor a police officer's signal to stop his vehicle and the existing crime of willfully and wantonly attempting to elude the officer. The bill punishes the failure to stop as a Class 1 misdemeanor (currently not a crime) and raises the attempt to elude to a Class 6 felony (currently a Class 1 misdemeanor). The penalty for causing serious bodily injury while attempting to elude is raised from a Class 6 to a Class 5 felony, and license suspension in the case of a felony conviction under the section is mandated for a minimum of two years.
