Commending Elizabeth V. Lodal.

WHEREAS, Elizabeth V. Lodal, the Principal of McLean High School for the past 10 years and for nearly 30 years a teacher and administrator in Northern Virginia public schools, has recently retired; and

WHEREAS, a graduate of Rice University and The George Washington University, Elizabeth Lodal arrived in Northern Virginia in 1967, following a brief stint teaching in New Jersey; and

WHEREAS, as a teacher in Arlington and Fairfax and as an administrator with several Fairfax County public schools, Elizabeth Lodal has built an enviable record of skill, dedication to students, and commitment to educational excellence; and

WHEREAS, Elizabeth Lodal used this strong foundation during her decade at McLean High School, where she rekindled community interest and pride in the school, lobbied effectively with the county supervisors for more funds for classrooms, and earned the respect and admiration of students, faculty, and parents alike; and

WHEREAS, a member of numerous local, statewide, and national professional organizations, Elizabeth Lodal has been frequently cited for her contributions to education by, among others, the Washington Post, the McLean Providence Journal, and the Virginia Association of Secondary School Principals; and

WHEREAS, shortly before her retirement announcement, Elizabeth Lodal played a major role in the planning and execution of McLean High School's 40th anniversary celebration, and the success of that event, attended by thousands of alumni and friends of McLean High School, stands as a symbol of the remarkable career of Elizabeth Lodal; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly commend Elizabeth V. Lodal for her exemplary career of service to the youth of the Commonwealth; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Elizabeth V. Lodal in recognition of her outstanding accomplishments and with the best wishes of the General Assembly for a long, rewarding, and well-earned retirement.
