Summary:
Implementation of pollution prevention within state agencies. Requires state agencies which use or generate toxic chemicals listed under the federal SARA Title III and Superfund laws to review and amend their programs, processes and activities to achieve reductions in their use or generation. The agencies are also required to amend their procurement specifications to allow the use of alternate products when they are available, and to submit a pollution prevention plan for the agency. Agencies which use or generate a minimal amount of these chemicals are exempt. This bill is a recommendation of the Joint Subcommittee Studying Pollution Prevention (SJR 207, 1993).
