Adds private police officers employed by a private police department to the definition of law-enforcement officer for purposes of the crimes of assault and battery. The current punishment for assault and battery against a law-enforcement officer engaged in the performance of his public duties is a Class 6 felony with a six-month mandatory minimum sentence.
