Summary as introduced:
Local judicial nominations committees. Establishes a judicial nominations committee in each circuit, composed of citizens and lawyers appointed by majority vote of the members of the General Assembly who represent any portion of the circuit. The committees are to investigate candidates (including incumbent judges) for circuit and district court vacancies and submit reports on up to 3 nominations per vacancy to the General Assembly. There is an opt-out provision for those delegations that already have nomination procedures in place.
