SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 476
Commending Jake Hardison.

WHEREAS, for 45 years, Jake Hardison has contributed generously of his time and talent to Little League Baseball on the local, state, and national levels; and

WHEREAS, Jake Hardison began his service in the Virginia Beach area as a manager for the Plaza Little League; and

WHEREAS, Jake Hardison has since served Plaza Little League as manager, member of the board of directors, vice president, and president; and

WHEREAS, the district administrator for Virginia Little League Baseball District 8 for 28 years, Jake Hardison also served on the Credentials Committee for 15 years and as Virginia State Little League Baseball coordinator for 15 years; and

WHEREAS, in 1993, Jake Hardison established the first Challenger Fun Weekend in Virginia Beach with 16 teams, an event that had grown in 2002 to include 83 teams from six states; and

WHEREAS, in recognition of his outstanding work with the Challenger Little League program, Jake Hardison was the recipient of the 2000 Challenger Award from Little League Baseball, Inc.; and

WHEREAS, in 2001, Jake Hardison attended the Challenger Little League game played on the White House lawn and met President George W. Bush; and

WHEREAS, in 2004, Jake Hardison will be host chairman for the Little League Baseball Congress, which will draw representatives from around the world to Virginia Beach; and

WHEREAS, during his 45 years in Little League Baseball, Jake Hardison has developed many friendships in Tidewater, throughout the Commonwealth, and across the country; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Jake Hardison for his extraordinary devotion to Little League Baseball; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Jake Hardison as an expression of the admiration and best wishes of the General Assembly.
