Celebrating the life of Donald V. Miller.

WHEREAS, Donald V. Miller of Woodstock, a former administrator and coach in the public school systems of Augusta County, Lexington, and Alexandria, died on September 6, 2002; and

WHEREAS, a native of Ferguson, North Carolina, Donald Miller graduated from Woodstock High School, earned his bachelor's degree from James Madison University, and received his master's degree in education from the University of Virginia; and

WHEREAS, Donald Miller was a retired administrator and coach who served with great professionalism and dedication in Augusta County, Lexington, and Alexandria; and

WHEREAS, for most of his career, Donald Miller was a school administrator for the Alexandria City public schools, where he worked as director of vocational education and food services; and

WHEREAS, Donald Miller is fondly remembered by the staff of the Alexandria City public schools as an exceptionally professional, knowledgeable, responsible, and conscientious administrator, taking time for thoroughness and accuracy while never missing a deadline; and

WHEREAS, a member of Little River United Church of Christ in Annandale, Donald Miller was a member of Woodstock Moose Lodge No. 575 and Woodstock American Legion Post No. 199 and a former member of the Alexandria Host Lions Club; and

WHEREAS, for many years, Donald Miller served as a director on the board of the Skyline Terrace Convalescent Home, where he served with great diligence, enthusiasm, and dedication; and

WHEREAS, a member of the Model A Club in Northern Virginia, Donald Miller meticulously restored a 1930 Model A Ford that won numerous local and national trophies for its incredible accuracy and detail; and

WHEREAS, a man of great kindness and accomplishment, Donald V. Miller leaves a lasting and enviable legacy of service to his family, his profession, and his community; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with great sadness the loss of an exceptional Virginian, Donald V. Miller; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Donald V. Miller as an expression of the high regard in which his memory is held by the members of the General Assembly.
