Commending the Central High School girls' cross country team.

Patrons-- Potts, Blevins, Bolling, Byrne, Chichester, Colgan, Cuccinelli, Deeds, Edwards, Hanger, Hawkins, Howell, Lambert, Lucas, Marsh, Martin, Maxwell, Miller, K.G., Mims, Newman, Norment, O'Brien, Puckett, Puller, Quayle, Rerras, Reynolds, Ruff, Saslaw, Stolle, Stosch, Ticer, Trumbo, Wagner, Wampler, Watkins, Whipple and Williams

WHEREAS, the 2002 girls' cross country team of Central High School, in the Shenandoah County town of Woodstock, was victorious in the Shenandoah County championship, the Shenandoah District championship, and, the crowning achievement, the Virginia High School League Group A state championship; and

WHEREAS, the team was coached by Joseph Huddle, a 1980 Central High graduate who earned his degree at Roanoke College, and by assistant coach Melissa Wright, a 1986 alumna of Central High School who earned her college degree from Bridgewater College; and

WHEREAS, led by championship runners Emily Carlson, Betty Dellinger, Rachel Fitzsimmons, Asha Fleming, Katee Knupp, Danielle Paxton, and Bethany Powell, the Central High School team proudly represented the Shenandoah Valley in the state championships and brought home the 10th state cross country championship for Central High School; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly commend and congratulate the members of the girls' cross country team from Central High School for their extraordinary 2002 season; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare copies of this resolution for presentation to Head Coach Joseph Huddle and Assistant Coach Melissa Wright in honor of the Central High School girls' cross country champions.
